Christine Goonewardene (2004)

23 November 2023

Christine completed a BSc (Sports Science) and a Graduate Diploma in Exercise Science at Notre Dame, whilst remaining connected to Penrhos by coaching a number of school teams.

After completing her studies, Christine was invited to start the exercise physiology clinic at the university gym. With the field of Exercise Science being in its infancy, Christine decided to return to university and in 2013 completed a BSc (Physiotherapy) at Notre Dame.  In 2015 she was appointed Trainer Coordinator with the West Coast Eagles.  Christine has worked with the team since, managing all aspects of the medical care for Eagles and their support staff and travelling with the team to their away games.  Chris was thrilled to be at the MCG when the Eagles won the 2018 Premiership.

In 2015 Christine started her own business – Aspire Physiotherapy in Claremont, which she balances with her strong commitment to the West Coast Eagles Football Club.  When the West Coast Eagles join the AFLW in 2020, Christine will also act as the Physiotherapy Manager for the new Womens’ team.
