Getting ready for Boarding Week

25 June 2026

By Liz Langdon, Head of Boarding

In the arrival of winter, apart from the usual routine and occasional shenanigans, we have layered in the Year 11 and 12 exams, lots of sport and activities!

Our staff strive to ensure our boarders stay busy, engaged and to have an outlet for the extra energy. If you are willing to embrace all the opportunities to get out and about on recreation and spend quality time with your friends – it's always lots of fun!

We'll kickstart Term 3 with a celebration of Penrhos Boarding Week. The Prefect team and staff have a big week organised, starting on Tuesday with a Paddock to Plate Bake Sale at morning tea and lunch in the Margaret Way Courtyard. Everyone is invited to purchase and eat some freshly baked produce and sample all the goodness our community has to offer.

The boarders have a fun week exchanging gifts, treats and favours, with a secret friend. Then on Thursday night, we enjoy a special dinner, where the secret friends are revealed and everyone shares a lot of love.

On Friday the school has a themed dress-up day – Something You Find on a Farm. This gives everyone lots of scope – from being farmers, to animals, to crops to physical structures to vehicles. There is also a sausage sizzle at lunch to help share the joy with the Penrhos community.

All money raised will be donated to The Blue Tree Project. This organisation is very dear and close to the rural community. Please go to their website Blue Tree Project if you would like to find out more. You will read that “Blue Trees, standing across the globe are powerful symbols of mental health awareness - silent yet unwavering reminders that you're not alone.” A very powerful and important message for all.

Penrhos Boarding Week is a great way to build on our own community. It is so important that a community is supportive, caring and kind. Within it, is the opportunity to have fun and to nurture friendships that are enduring and supportive.

The fun and joy that is shared during Boarding Week, is a great way to start the term. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for an exciting Term 3!
