Embrace: Honouring What It Means to Be a Penrhosian

30 April 2025

Welcome back to Term 2! After a vibrant and full Term 1, we’re stepping into another exciting term, one that promises to be equally exciting with learning, connection and joy.

At Penrhos College, Embrace is more than one of our strategic pillars; it is a promise. A promise to value every individual, to nurture deep and lasting relationships and to create a community where everyone feels seen, celebrated and supported. Through Embrace, we bring to life our commitment to Love, Lead, Unite and continue to be a force for good in the lives of others.

This Term, we were proud to introduce a new tradition: our inaugural Veterans Assembly. At this special gathering, we recognised our Year 12 students who have been part of Penrhos for ten years or more. These students were presented with a Veteran’s Badge, a symbol of their enduring connection and contribution to the life of the College.

But this assembly was not only about longevity. It was a celebration of connection. While we paused to honour those who have journeyed with us for a decade or more, we also celebrated the wider Penrhos community. Every student, whether they joined in Kindy or last year, is a valued and essential part of our story.

Being a Penrhosian is not measured by time, but by the way we care for one another, how we embrace diversity, lift each other up and lead with kindness, courage and spirit. It’s reflected in our daily moments: in a shared smile, a helping hand, a team effort, a lasting friendship. It’s found in classrooms, performances, sporting teams and across generations of alumni who carry the Penrhos spirit with them wherever they go.

As we gathered to present the Veteran’s Badges, we were filled with deep gratitude for all who make up the rich tapestry of our community: students, families, staff, alumni and friends. This celebration was a reminder that every connection matters and that Embrace is something we all live, every day.

Together, we are stronger.

Together, we are Penrhos.

And together, we will always Love, Lead and Unite as a community that embraces all, and always.
