Belonging, Becoming, Boarding

10 December 2025

By Liz Langdon, Head of Boarding

It is hard to believe that we have reached the end of the year. It has been a busy and productive one. So much has happened, it is hard to know where to start to reflect.

Term 1 was all about settling in. At the start of the year we welcomed 22 new boarders, ranging from 11 to 16 years in age. It is hard to move away from home and board, at any age, but our mighty group of 2025 boarders proved to be a resilient and supportive lot. They bonded over shared experiences, challenges and celebrations alike, forming friendships and having fun along the way.

Terms 2 and 3 brought winter sport and the comfort of routine. While a few winter sniffles came and went, they were only minor distractions. Our recreational (rec) activities went full steam ahead and there was never a dull moment.

Friendships amongst our boarders had settled for most and despite expected peaks and troughs, there was a welcome sense of stability and calm.

With the end of the school year finally in sight, Term 4 felt like a mountain to climb. Yet, as with any summit, once we reached the top and looked back, we were left wondering how we arrived there so quickly.

Now, as the term draws to a close, excitement is building for reunions across WA, holiday catch-ups and plans for the year ahead. Around me, bags and rooms are packed, the dirty washing bag is overflowing, and the car is full to the brim.

Everyone is happy and content.

For now, farewell - until we see each other again in January for another action-packed year.
