Finishing Strong: Term 3 Sport

What a busy and rewarding Term 3 it has been for Penrhos Sport! From some outstanding performances on the athletics track, volleyball and golf success, our students have shown outstanding commitment, effort and team spirit across a wide range of sports.

Years 7-12 Interhouse Athletics Carnival 

To kick off the term Penrhos held its annual Years 7–12 Interhouse Athletics Carnival. It was a fantastic day of encouragement, determination and teamwork with some outstanding individual performances along with an Athens win!

Champion Girls and Runners Up:

Year 7 – Ava (Champion), Zara (Runner Up)

Year 8 – Emily (Champion), Willow (Runner Up)

Year 9 – Georgie (Champion), Isla (Runner Up)

Year 10 – Grace (Champion), Lucy (Runner Up)

Year 11 – Chelsea (Champion), Addison (Runner Up)

Year 12 – Matilda (Champion), Lilliana (Runner Up)

Two outstanding record-breaking performances on the day: 

 Ava (Year 7): 200m, 400m and High Jump 

 Grace (Year 10): 1500m

IGSSA Athletics Carnival 

We took one of our biggest teams in years to the IGSSA Athletics Carnival. We saw a huge improvement in our overall results compared with previous years, a fantastic reflection of the commitment and positive attitude shown by our athletes all season.

Individual and team highlights:

Year 7 – Ava: Division 1, 1st place in the 100m, 200m, 400m and High Jump, and a new IGSSA record in the 400m

Year 7 – Division 1, 1st place, 4 x 100m Relay: Zara, Natalie, Mia, Ava.

Year 8 – Emily: Division 1, 1st place, Shot Put

Year 10 – Grace: Division 1, 1st place in the 800m and 1500m

Volleyball Schools Cup

Our Volleyballers took part in a four-day competition where we saw 100 Penrhos students competing against 80 schools from across the state. Congratulations to our Year 8A and Year 9A teams that won gold!

Golf

We had six Penrhos golfers compete in the annual IGSSA Golf Competition across a 9-hole Ambrose-style team event and the 18-hole individual event. Millie (Year 9), Ayu (Year 7) and Dhiya (Year 8) took out the win in the Ambrose 9-hole Golf competition!

Junior School Athletics Carnival 

Well done to all Year 1 to 6 students on their participation in the Junior School Athletics Carnival. Students showed great effort, teamwork and sportswomanship across a range of events, giving their best and supporting one another throughout the day. Congratulations to Athens for winning the overall carnival!

Looking ahead in Term 4

There is no better way to wrap up the year with a busy Term 4 of sports! Students can select from Softball, Water Polo, Tennis and Cricket. We have a unique format of Day Carnivals for Tennis, Softball and Water Polo (Year 10-12 only).
