Racing through Term 2

What a fantastic term it has been for Penrhos Sport! Our students have embraced every opportunity to challenge themselves, support their teammates, and represent the school with pride. From outstanding cross-country performances to exciting Winter Games competition, it has been a term full of achievement, determination, and plenty of school spirit.

Cross Country success

Our cross-country runners have had an incredible start to the season, producing Penrhos' best SSWA Cross Country results in over 10 years! The dedication and commitment shown at training paid off, with our athletes competing strongly against fields of more than 300 runners. 

A huge congratulations to the following students who place in the top 50 of their races: 

Girls 13

  • Zara (31st), Ava (35th), Tiana (36th) 

Girls 14 

  • Georgia (20th), Matilda (39th)

  • Grace (2nd), Saoirse (8th)

Hosting the first combined JIGSSA/IGSSA Cross country carnival

On Monday, 15 June, Penrhos proudly hosted the inaugural combined JIGSSA/IGSSA Cross-Country Carnival. It was fantastic to see our entire cross-country squad together, creating a wonderful atmosphere filled with encouragement, enthusiasm, and team spirit. The energy throughout the day was outstanding, and our runners delivered some excellent individual performances. 

A massive congratulations goes to Grace (Year 10) who came first place!

Congratulations to all the students who have competed and contributed to such a positive and successful event. 


Year 6 Winter Games 

Our Year 6 students also enjoyed a fantastic day at the Winter Games, competing in soccer, basketball, netball, and hockey against other JIGSSA schools. 

A special congratulations goes to our Year 6 Hockey team, who finished in an impressive 2nd place overall. Well done to all students who represented Penrhos so positively throughout the day.


Head of the River 

Congratulations to all of our rowers who competed at this year's Head of the River regatta. The girls demonstrated incredible commitment and determination throughout the season, with many early mornings and countless hours of training leading into this event. Their hard work and resilience were on full display as they represented Penrhos with pride. We congratulate all crews on their efforts and achievements and thank them for their dedication throughout the rowing season.


As the term comes to a close, we congratulate all of our athletes on their efforts and achievements. We are excited to see what Term 3 brings and look forward to another season of participation, growth, and sporting success.
